Dr. Layne Gritti is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and addiction psychiatrist with specialized training in reproductive psychiatry. She partners with patients—especially women and individuals navigating substance use—to support mental wellness through a compassionate, holistic lens.
Dr. Gritti believes in meeting patients exactly where they are. While she brings clinical expertise, she knows her patients are the experts on their own lived experience. Her approach is collaborative and deeply human-centered, grounded in a biopsychosocial-spiritual understanding of her patients. Whether someone is exploring recovery, managing a mental health condition, or simply trying to feel more like themselves, Dr. Gritti offers nonjudgmental care that honors each person’s complexity and resilience.
She provides psychiatric care across the reproductive lifespan, including preconception consultations, support during pregnancy and the postpartum period, care following pregnancy loss, and treatment related to fertility and menopause. As a Mayo Clinic–certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, she also brings a nuanced perspective to addiction treatment, using motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care to help patients explore their substance use without shame.
Dr. Gritti earned her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine from the University of Dayton, where she minored in Psychology and Philosophy, served as president of the Active Minds chapter, and volunteered as an EMT. After completing medical school as part of the inaugural class at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine—drawn to osteopathy’s core belief in treating the whole person—Dr. Gritti pursued psychiatry residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University. There, she served as chief resident during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and completed fellowships in Women’s Reproductive Mental Health, Community and Public Psychiatry, and Addiction Psychiatry, treating a diverse range of patients with substance use and co-occurring disorders across a wide variety of care settings.
Dr. Gritti helps patients feel seen and understood—often surprising them with the depth of her questions and the care she brings to their stories. She views psychiatric diagnoses not as fixed labels but as flexible frameworks for understanding experiences and exploring healing. Above all, her work is rooted in hope: that even when progress feels uneven, a better day is always possible.
“The highest of all human goods is not happiness, feeling good, or satisfying appetites. Rather it is striving to achieve the best that is within us. Know yourself. Become who you are.”
